I was prescribed new meds today but looking online I’ve found the capsules contain gelatin. Obviously I’m going to get special vegetarian tablet but I don’t know whether I should start taking my meds until I manage to get the substitute… :S

Even if they can’t be replaced then still take your medication, you can’t help animals if you’re not 100%.

    Hi @blaidd,

Whether or not to take the non-veg medicine your doctor recommends is a personal choice that only you can make. I recommend asking him or her if there’s a vegetarian alternative that can be provided to you as soon as possible.

Can you removed the medicine from the capsules and take them in food or something in the meantime?

If you need it badly, then take it! After you get better, then you can start not consuming animal products! Get better first!
If this is a long-term medication, ask your doctor to see if there’s a veg one available. Don’t waste what you have already, because we can really use people that aren’t throwing away food/consumable products!

I don’t know if I could find a pharmacy that would swap them.
