ugh. this is one of the reasons I’m so glad I was on home instruction for the year I was taking biology. I would have flipped out if that had happened to me. I definitely agree with all of the others’ comments though. You should tell your guidance counselor or your principal, because she shouldn’t be allowed to do that without first making sure that it won’t effect anyone in the class, and she especially shouldn’t be making fun of you for your views.

@Whiskey okay, why would you want to be here if you don’t like what Peta stands for? You didn’t have to sign up, and you know what, this is a place for support so please take your bitchy comments out of here., I’m not going to take shit for caring about an innocent rat.

What she did is awul. Even though it’s the so called “circle of life” she shouln’t slam those poor rats. There are more humane ways to feed them. I’m sorry you had to go through that *hug*

First of all, why the fuck was she calling you out and making you feel bad? That’s completley insensitive, not to mention a form of bullying. . .so you could get your teacher in some serious trouble. Talk to her. Tell her how it made you feel and maybe see if next time she decides to feed her snakes in class, see if you can wait in the hallway. There are better ways to do things, and slamming those rats into something like that was cruel, insensitive, and sure as hell wasn’t one of the better things to do. And @Whiskey I would like to point out that, yes snakes do eat rodents in nature. . .but in nature no one’s slamming them against a hard surface and making you watch. Stay strong honey. You’ve got your heart in the right place, and fuck anyone who tells you different!

How was it a negative comment, I’m pointing out that it could have been worse. Perhaps you missed me saying that it was handled very poorly and also that you doesn’t know for sure if the “better” ways are actually better. It’s not right the teacher did it in front of student and made fun of her… As I pointed that out… which is technically support and told you that you could report the teacher for allowing the class to harass and that the teacher yelled at you.
Read people comment’s fully without jumping to conclusions please. Seems a lot of people here do that. Here to see what PeTA2 is about and was hoping to prove my views on it wrong, so far most has been proven right.

@Whiskey I don’t think you should be here with your negative comments. This is a place for support. No one should have to witness helpless animals being slammed against surfaces in a garbage bag.

I pointed out that if “frozen” like someone pointed out for how they feed them.. you don’t know how they died and that it may have been more cruelly killed, I pointed out if not stunned the snake could have been hurt. I never said which way is better/humane.. I pointed out that either way, snakes eat rodents, no matter in which way its fed to them.. I would appreciate words not being stuck in my moth, so to speak.

You should complain.

Wow. Such inconsiderate people. I’m sorry. I would have reacted the same.. :/

Teacher handled it wrong. She can and probably should be reported for allowing the making fun of part and yelling at you.
Honestly, what do snakes eat in the wild… rodents… What do you expect her to feed them, frozen meat or processed meat, or veggies? (if frozen you don’t know how they were killed, could have been just as cruel if not more cruel) If she hadn’t stunned them the snake could have been harmed… would you have rather of seen that? How is it not fair to the rats if they may have been killed in the wild in the same manner… just don’t understand your logic there.
Sorry if I’m being blunt, living in the country opens your eyes to a lot of wildlife… I’ve seen snakes eat little chicks, mice, rats ect.

You should inform your principal about what happened. A teacher never has the right to ridicule a student, and they could get in big trouble.

You should tell your parents and the school administration. She has no right to make fun of a student in class based on her beliefs. Also, honestly she shouldn’t even feed the snake in the class or at least ask if everyone is okay with it.

By using “the circle of life” someone is applying that it is “natural”. Except I don’t think anywhere in nature do rats put themselves in garbage bags, bash themselves against a hard surface until broken and dazed, and leave themselves for snakes to eat. It is also not natural to keep a snake in box.

:/ Biology teachers are good at that. I’m so sorry you had to see that it is very hard to watch a life end before your eyes… You should see if there is any way you can switch out of that class and get a new teacher… That is completely inappropriate.
My Biology teacher made me cry.

Today in Biology, my teacher decided to feed her two snakes. I don’t see this as a problem. But then she told everyone how she feed them.
She puts the rats in a garbage bag and then slams them against a hard surface to stun them, then she puts them in the feeding cage while the rats were dazed and the snake attacked them, ect.
Well when she started the feeding process, I broke into tears even though I have a phobia of rats.
After the whole thing was over with, I was still crying, my teacher pretty much yelled at me in front of everyone. She told me that the circle of life caused it, ect.
Everyone called me a drama queen and I got made fun of all day. I don’t really care about that, but I still don’t think the whole feeding process is fair to the rats.
