I tried to get her to watch the factory farming in sixty seconds video, and about ten seconds in she says, “Oh, I know what they do, I’m not stupid, I don’t need to see this.”
GUH. Thinking you know and actually seeing what happens to those poor animals are two completely different things. Ignorance really is bliss.

There are great videos out there to help to get her to see what happens. I saw a few in one of my college classes a few months ago.

I agree with misstabitha, I HATE those videos and never could watch them myself. The fact that she refuses means that you’re already getting to her since I know people who watch those videos and laugh. You’ve already suceeded in turining her squeamish now take a new line of attack that she isn’t expecting.

Maybe you can find an alternative way of informing her? Personally I don’t like watching those types of videos either, simply because I’m squirmish. Obviously I’m still really informed about what happens though, and am totally against it. Good luck!

Yeah my mom reacted the same way when I tried to show her. She said I was depressing her with it and that she could cut back meat but not give it up. How can you continue eating meat when you know this happens?

uhg, ikr :/ next time your mom says “Im not stupid i dont need to see this” or something like that, reply with “If your not stupid why do you eat meat? Are you trying to be a murderous suicidal person?”

    Hey @Chellybean17,

I had a similar reaction from my parents when I first tried getting them to watch videos of factory farming. Be sure to check out our page on how to talk to your parents about going vegan here: http://www.peta2.com/lifestyle/talking-parents-going-vegan/
