• No Meat. No Dairy. All Muscle.

    We all know the stereotypes: Vegans and vegetarians are weak and scrawny; only meat builds muscle; real men eat meat. And oh, if only we got a dollar every time someone asked, “Where do you get your protein?”

    Because of these myths, a lot of athletes are against going meat-free. Especially guys, who think that not eating meat would make them less manly. When coaches and other athletes learn I’m vegan, I sometimes get remarks like, “Your bones will break if you don’t drink milk,” and “Eating tofu will make you grow breasts.” So to challenge these stereotypes, I wrote an article about fitness and building muscle on a vegan diet. Who needs meat and dairy when there are thousands of awesome recipes with protein-rich plant foods? Its time for words like “beefcake” to be replaced with “tofucake” :)
