• Opinions on vegetarian/vegan diets for cats and dogs?

I am vegan, however my cats and dogs are not. It makes me really sad that I have to feed them this, but what can I do? Is it possible for them to thrive off of veg diets? I’ve done research and most of my results have said no. But I’d like to know first hand from animal owners what you think.

@hakred @phoebeanne123 Thank you so much for the information! I just want the best health for my animals, but it does break my heart they eat meat. :( Thanks so much, I’ll be looking into it. :) Does it cost much more to sustain a veg diet for them?

@tally, my kitty is vegan and she sees just fine! :)

@stopthisanimalcruelty99, I feed her evolution kibble.

Actually, it is possible if you do it right. My dog is vegan and he is happy and healthy. I feed him Natural Balance’s Vegetarian Formula. My cats are not vegan, but I think they can be. You can visit vegancats.com and decide for yourself.

@tally Good thing I wasn’t planning on it. There’s only so much you can do to help animal cruelty. I get my cat and dog food from a local supplier so at least I know the animals that died for it were not dying in pain. It still makes me really really sad though. :(

No, No No. you cannot!! If you put a cat on a vegan diet it will go blind!
