• People not reading my stuff on Facebook

While there may be much better ways to help animals than to share stuff on Facebook, I still do it when I have the spare time and have nothing else that I can do at the moment. However, because a lot of my posts go unnoticed, I am really starting not to see the point in using Facebook for raising awareness about such things as the adoptable animals at the local shelter and some of the missions on here, How can I get people to read my stuff, or can I? I used to find the Internet as a great way to raise awareness on issues, but if nobody sees it, what’s the sense of posting it?

I am not trying to whine on how I don’t get enough attention. I just want to figure out how to get people to read my stuff, if that’s possible, or if maybe I should just give up with using Facebook for raising awareness.

Though they may not “like” or comment, people are receiving information from you, you are raising awareness and that is very appreciated! :)

As already mentioned, don’t spam the feed on social networking, people will take less notice. Alot of the things my friends post about are things I’m also passionate about, however if I keep seeing the same crap come up over and over it irritates me and I end up hiding their posts. Even if, as I said, it is stuff I too also agree with.

Thats what i thought till when i saw people off the web … they said they see all my post :) so just because they dont like or comment does not mean they are not looking :D

    Hey @Landhermie
I suggest not to overpost things. As on facebook you can unsubscribe from people :[
So I would assume if you're doing a post everyday about animal cruelty and slaughter and all these other depressing things... people might get overwhelmed or annoyed, which I found out at first. So I cut back.. and now I post way less on facebook about animal related things, like every two weeks or less. So not to be unsubscribed, because then people won't see it. :] People do notice though. Sometimes when I post, I don’t get any comments or likes or what not but when I see people in person they mention it or ask me more about it. :]
    Don’t give up!

I find that over saturating your news feed with the same type of stuff gets fb friends to tune out, or block your posts! if you only post one or two animal rights related videos or statuses a day, people are more likely to take notice.

If you don’t feel like Facebook is working try other platforms like Twitter, YouTube, Tumbler, etc. You could also try forwarding info through emails and texts. Technology today is limitless so don’t give up. Old fashioned leafleting still works too.

    Hey @Landhermie

Don’t ever think that your statuses go unnoticed or that no one is reading them. They are. People may not be “liking” them and they may not be commenting on them, but they are going noticed. Don’t think otherwise. However, a little tip: Don’t post too much animal rights stuff VERY often (as in almost always) because that can annoy people they’ll lose interest.

Make your posts visual with a caption that will get their attention and then after the caption put some short but effective facts (make sure the first fact contains a large number e.g. 100,000 chickens die every year due to cramped conditions…etc)

I wouldn’t give up on it I don’t post stuff to often on facebook and people occasionally comment but I think most of the time people see it but they don’t comment. It is still helpful if they just see it though. If you post it more often or anything like that people will probably start getting annoyed and start ignoring them on purpose or blocking your posts etc.
