“On January 17, 250 bottlenose dolphins were driven in to the cove in Taiji, Japan, where they were kept for 5 days without food, during a gruelling captive selection process that separated mothers from their babies and other family members. 52 dolphins were taken for captivity (3 have since died in their pens), including a rare albino baby named Angel who was taken from her mother, and now sits at the Taiji museum barely moving or coming up for air. 41 were brutally slaughtered in front of the rest of their family. The remaining 130-140 dolphins after being starved for 5 days and watching their family disappear or killed were driven back out to sea. Many were juveniles, who are not expected to survive, as they still rely on their mothers and family for their survival.”
