So there’s a group in Maryland called the Maryland Fur Trappers ( They are hosting an event the weekend of August 24-25 where they will be holding trapping demos etc. A local Sleep Inn Suites in Hagerstown, MD is giving all members of MFT a discount that weekend. I’m trying to convince the hotel NOT to give a discount to such murderers! So, if you could, please email the hotel at and/or call them at (301) 766-9449 and tell them that they shouldn’t support such a barbaric group! Here’s what I emailed them:

    Dear Sir or Madam,

I was horrified to hear that the Sleep Inn Suite in Hagerstown Maryland is giving a reduced rate to members of Maryland Fur Trappers the weekend of August 24-25. Please do not continue with this discount.

The trappers in the group cause extreme pain and suffering to innocent animals. Trapping is a bloody business. When an animal steps on the steel-jaw trap spring, the trap’s jaws slam shut, clamping down on the animal’s limb or paw. As the animal struggles in excruciating pain to get free, the steel vise cuts into his or her flesh—often down to the bone—mutilating the leg or paw. Some animals, especially mothers desperate to return to their young, will even attempt to chew or twist off their trapped limbs.

Animals often struggle for hours, sometimes days, before they finally succumb to exhaustion, exposure, frostbite, shock, and death.

Please, do not support this cruelty! Please reconsider your decision and DO NOT give reduced rates to any members of the Maryland Fur Trappers that weekend, and please never do such a discount again. I will not consider supporting your hotel or any Sleep Inn Suite hotels unless you discontinue this discount.

Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing back from you.

Please contact the hotel and spread the word!!

    THANKS! xoxo
