@alexismyname having read through the post and articles @lweske posted, I think this is the best quote that sums up this topic really well:

“PETA acromyn is People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. They do not purport to be a rescue organization. When pets are abandoned or surrendered by owners, the sentence is already handed down in the overwhelming majority of animals. They will be euthanized. PETAs work in education and raising awareness that animals should be treated humanely and not worn, farmed or treated as amusements is valuable and I support their work. If you have a problem with their mission, at least define what is their actual mission, not what you wish their mission was.” — Smittynoexecutions (user comment from the original article)

    Hey @alexismyname,

You can learn more about why we believe in peaceful euthanasia here: http://www.peta2.com/blog/why_we_euthanize/ and click here to learn about how our rescue team works: http://www.peta2.com/blog/meet-petas-incredible-rescue-team-video/.

As @TeeterDance said: PETA is NOT a shelter. We provide euthanasia for the animals who have been abused and neglected beyond the point of recovery or who no other group will place or help. We also rehabilitate and find loving homes for many of the animals our team rescues, but sadly there are simply not enough homes for all of the animals in need.

I hope that helps! Shoot me an email at lizw@peta2.com if you have any questions :)

Peta aren’t a shelter, how do you expect them to give a home for everyone that dumps their unwanted animals on them?

If people weren’t so irresponsible, then peta wouldn’t have to euthanise.

It’s not a hoax, PETA does euthanise some animals but please read these two pages to see why they do it:
