Does anyone on here do any prepping for potential threats? Like for natural disasters, nuclear war, EMPs, economic fallout, the zombie apocalypse…
Just curious to see as I’m starting to now just by getting a bug out bag together and stocking supplies, my family isn’t doing very well economically right now so I figure if I save for stuff while I can we’ll have things to fall back on if we can’t afford to buy food, pay utility bills, etc.
I keep everything in a air/water tight box under my stairs (where there are rucksacks close by in case I need to evacuate) and I every time I go shopping, I just add one item to it. So for example, I get an extra tin of beans with my weekly shop. It stocks it up slowly but I find it’s the cheapest way to do it, you just have to remember to get that extra item!!
=O For several days I thought there weren’t any other vegan preppers! Everyone else I’ve spoken to are meat eaters…
I’m going to be stocking up on the tinned food and some ration food (I found these 4000 calorie biscuits and apparently taste like shortbread so they’d be awesome in a bug out bag as they’re only little) as well as water but as the rest of my family eats meat and the dogs and kittie are on a raw diet now I’ll be having to stock meat and fish for them *Bleh!*.
I understand what they mean when they say that so my plan would be to keep vegan as long as possible but I know that might not be entirely possible so I’d opt for eating and using the smallest amount of animal product possible.
I’m going to be hunting through all the cheapy shops to find food and useful things… like medical supplies and tools. I need to stock on human and non-human medical items including flea and wormers and insect deterrents because after a few months I’m sure their populations will be booming and if it was zombies then it could be possible that biting insects will carry the disease.
A Bow would be useful! Especially with zombies as they’re quiet and you can retrieve the arrow afterwards. I’ve got a crossbow at the moment (so glad these are legal in the UK with no registration needed!) which isn’t that quiet amazingly but the problem is I need to make a holster or something for it and then I’m looking to get an air gun/ paint gun and some paint grenades/smoke bombs because they’re not tracked by law officials so if SHTF they won’t be able to just some take them from me like they would do if I had an actual gun.
I need to get something like that sorted, at the moment I just have this little book which has quite a few useful things in it such as how to break down a door, deliver a baby, land a plane ,etc so it’s a handy little book to have but I need a much more extensive collection.
For lighting I’m planning on getting: Torches, waterproof matches, light sticks and a few flint and steels. We’ve always got candles and lighters in my house so they aren’t as big of a worry.
Zombies are what I’m prepping for too! I tell people though that it’s for an economic fallout so they won’t think I’m too crazy but I think that if you’re prepared to survive a zombie apocalypse then you’ll be prepared to survive no matter what else comes!
