My parents said that if I really wanted to I could adopt a snake.
I do really want to because I think it would be awesome to be able to give it a better home than it’s in.
Only thing is that snakes eat mice and rats and stuff like that. I don’t know what’s best to do.
1: buy prekilled rats and mice off the Internet
    Or
2: buy live ones from around here and feed them to the snake.

I haven’t looked much into the living conditions in feeder rodent breeding places but I would imagine it sucks.
I don’t want to be giving my money to people who are making the rodents lives sad, but I also don’t know of anyone around where I live who sells mice or rats. And I don’t think it’s cool to just put an alive rodent in with a snake to be eaten. But I don’t know.

I just want to know what you think.
And if you have a snake I would like to know what you do.

    Thanks.

Pre-killed rats and mice are better for two reasons:
    1. The poor creatures don’t have to go through the psychological torture before being eaten.
    2. Live rats/mice may harm your snake as they try to fight for their lives.

My parents aren’t letting me get a snake because they think snakes are creepy but thanks for the help anyways! I’ll be using it when I turn 18 and move out! (:

    Check this out: http://www.peta.org/living/companion-animals/caring-for-reptiles.aspx

Please don’t buy! If you do choose to adopt, this website is very helpful in finding a shelter near you to adopt from: http://www.petfinder.com

well the pet snakes don’t eat live rats but frozen that can you order from some farms that breeds them for this reason and they leave in very clean facilities and they have good lives! If you want to adopt a snake you must first read some books about alla the snakes and to get some herpetology lessons from some who knows about snakes! Then the only thing you need to do is to choose a snake that fits in your character or impressed you! I seggest to you to take Hog Island Boas because its very friendly and calm snakes!
