• Savoury Slices

    I made some savoury slices to take to a vegan bring & share today and they went down really well. Here is the recipe;

    1 tbsp oil
    12 fl oz water
    6oz split red lentils
    190g grated vegan cheese*
    1 medium onion, finely chopped
    1.5oz / 40g breadcrumbs
    1tsp dried mixed herbs
    1tbsp lemon juice (optional)
    salt & pepper

    Put the oil into a pan, add water and lentils. Simmer on a low heat until the lentils are soft (about 20 mins). Take off the heat and mix in vegan cheese, onions, breadcrumbs, herbs and lemon juice. Season with salt & pepper.
    Place in a well greased oven dish and bake at 180 degrees c (gas 4) for about 45 mins or until golden on top. Serve hot or cold.

    * I used melty Sheese from Bute Islands Foods

    So it’s like a lentil loaf? Have you ever made it with green lentils? That’s all I can find here and this recipe sounds pretty awesome. What do you normally eat it with?
