How long are you going to be there? If it’s not for too long of a time, and depending on what Japan’s laws about bringing food into the country, you could pack some luna bars and other stuff of that sort. Yeah, they are a touch pricey, but it would be for a special occasion, and it’s better, if only slightly, than eating junk food. Your other option is to save all the money you possibly can before you go and buy real food for yourself while your there.

Sorry if that wasn’t very helpful, I’ve only been to Germany and for some bizarre reason, Berlin is like a vegan haven, so I didn’t have many problems

Are you kidding?!
Didn’t you know Japan is one of the world’s largest soy producers and that it is where Tofu comes from?
Try Tofu and bean sprout dishes (without peanuts) and you will be fine.
Also try vegetable sushi, it is delish!

why dont you look for other vegan vegetarian locals. Im sure they can help you and give you some tips. Look around peta and see if any members are from there. best of luck

Me = jealous. I would loooove to go to Japan!
I would have imagined there would be a lot of veggie options over there though, as a large number of people are Buddhist. (The main religions are Shintoism and Buddhism, I’m not sure about diets in Shinto).
