I was wondering if I shouldn’t go to any aquariums or zoos because they are cruel, or is it ok? I use to enjoy them, but now they seem wrong, animals belong in their natural habitats not in tanks or cages.

A lot of the animals at Zoos were injured in the wild and left with no chance of survival. The zoo was a place for them to heal. A lot of the animals grew up in the zoo and couldn’t survive alone in the wild. By visiting the zoo you pay money that contributes to the food and shelter for these animals. In many ways it is cruel to be on stage all the time. Imagine people coming to gawk at you in your own house. Watching you sleep or use the bathroom. It wouldn’t be fun! It has good and bad sides. I think it all depends on the zoo. It is also a great opportunity to hang up flyers and stickers to raise awareness of animal cruelty.

If you really must go put up posters or things while you’re there to ‘disrupt’ the artifice of caged animals:

If I were you I wouldn’t but really it’s up to you. I also agree with what @FAR and @hakred said.

If you have to question whether it’s right or wrong, it probably isn’t right. I personally wouldn’t support any person or business that exploits animals for any reason.

I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, zoos and aquariums take animals from their natural habitats to use for human enjoyment. I think this is wrong.
On the other hand, zoos and aquariums educate. They open human eyes to the animal world and raise awareness and support for the conservation and protection of the creatures of the Earth. Its a toughie.
