So, I’ve been wanting to try to be vegan, but I can’t because of soymilk. I tried Silk (both the blue and red cartons) and I had this itchy feeling in my throat. It was kinda annoying, but I didn’t have to go to the emergency room or anything… o.o It wasn’t a serious problem, but I just want to know whether this is normal or if its an allergy or something of that nature. Thanks!
I DESPISE soymilk, but if I have to drink it, Silk is the only brand I can stand. Almond milk is easily my favorite. The Silk brand almond is ok, it’s just super thick and super sweet. If you can get Almond Breeze for the Aldi brand almond, it’s awesome.
Everyone is different, just try different types of milk and different brands and see what you like.
I don’t like soymilk either! You probably have an allergy to it. While I don’t, I’m not a big fan. There are tons and tons of vegan milks– my favorite is rice milk. And remember, you can always be vegan without ANY vegan milk at all. =)
Almond milk is my favorite. Also, remember that even if you couldn’t have milk (as in vegan milk) it is not necessary in a vegan diet so you could still go vegan! You could also try the non-silk brand of soy and see if it gives you the same affect (or just try another kind of milk, prob. best).
Rice milk is a good option, tastes pretty blah, but still an alternative. My tongue and lips swell if I drink soy milk, yet I can have things like soy pudding and other things that contain soy. There is almond milk, also, but I’m also allergic to almonds, so just test some out.
