Yeah my school does somehting like this but it’s a little different they raise a pig & I guess money comes from students & the FFA teacher then when he gets big a plump they have a FFA pig roast & it’s like 6 dollars for adult & free for kids.. something like that! But they just had one I think the last week of July or maybe it’s coming up not sure but a couple years ago the boy roasted a pig at his house on my road.. & they even name the pig when it’s alive!

If not illegal it is most definitely something that could be pointed out against them.

Are they planning to slaughter those endangered Cayuga ducks?…Isn’t that illegal?

If people pay her just to let them eat before she kills them, she’ll have the means to continue breeding and just put more pigs through the same cycle. If she can’t even feed them, what do you think that means for the conditions that they are kept in? And do you think it’s really worth it to pay for the slaughter of an animal just so more can be slaughtered?

Yes, everyone’s jumping out saying “but if you don’t feed them, they’ll starve!” Look at the LONG-TERM consequences – if they get what they want, they’ll keep killing.

Better they ask for help feeding there animals then Just let them starve. And If the person sponsering gets the benifit of Small farm raised Pork thats better they Buying mass produced Pork. These heritage breeds are Very rare and only a small amount of people Produce them, There not going to slaughter every pig they own that would be counter productive from the Rare heritage breed status. Just the young ones. She said last night she had 300 Pigs on the news out of those Maby 50 are going to be slaughtered. I would much rather she gets help feeding them then let them waste away and have to kill them all.

yea well if they don’t get enough money I’m pretty sure they are going to start killing some of the pigs early

I e-mailed them and told them I’d only donate if they didn’t slaughter the pigs in the end. Sigh. If only it worked. :b

What’s the point in sponsoring death?

Yea I just heard about this on the news and don’t know what to think of it. You always hear of rescues where you can help sponsor animals and people who love animals are willing to donate money for the animals to live their lives. Well now there is a farm in Ontario, Canada who has ran out of funds to feed her Large Black Pigs (they also own cattle, chicken, turkeys and ducks) etc so is asking for money from people to help feed them until they are slaughtered and then they in turn get some meat from it!

Generally I don’t like this idea at all maybe she won’t get as much money as she needs and some animal rescue can step in and buy them.

As you can see it is a smaller family run farm and the animals do live outside with each other and get good food etc. So it is better than factory farms etc but the fact that they are still slaughtered in the end is still wrong!
