I am in Journalism and everyday we are supposed to share a news story. “Obama…..bla, bla, bla….” and “Romney…..bla….bla bla” then I mention the Turkey Dropping. EVERYBODY started laughing! My face turned all red and I tried to explain how horrible it was mentioning how they are dropped from 1000 ft at high speeds…..Laughter. My teacher was concerned but everyone else was joking about it making crashing noises. I have no idea what to do and I started getting teary eyed, having an extreme stage fright I was just getting over. So we just moved on with people’s laughs dying down.
I hate it when people are like that. I actually once had to witness kids slaughtering chickens and laughing about it (it was my school twisted idea of teaching kids where their food came from). It made me sick to see people enjoying killing.
I know what it’s like to experience a situation like this. I tend to usually be the only one who gives a flying crap about anything involving animal and human rights. You need to at least be proud of yourself for saying something in the first place, even if you were mocked. If they want to remain close minded then that is their problem. Don’t feel ashamed or embarrassed, you spoke up about an issue that you are passionate about. You may find that there are a lot of jerks out there but keep on truckin’! You have a huge community here on PETA2 to support you on the dark days! There are also plenty of facebook groups that will support you! I even have a cause page that is only in it’s infancy but I’m still busting my butt to gain support and give support. The friends I have on there are from not only the United States but a few are from Ireland, Italy, Germany, Russia and so on. You may be the only in your class that really cares, but you are certainly not the only one in the world. 🙂 Keep your head up.
