Only ones I know in RL run a sanctuary in my county. We do exist, just we aren’t pale, sickly thin like meat eaters think we are so you wouldn’t know we are vegan if you passed us in the street unless we wore a vegan shirt I guess.

I can’t seem to find many UK vegans, nevermind ones in the south by portsmouth. I’d love to meet more

Was going to go to the Leicester fayre this weekend but had other things going on. Went to the last one there though. Also going to the Animal Aid Xmas fayre in London again this year. Managed to get some good xmas pressies last year there.

All the supermarkets suck in one way or another, but tbh, if you don’t have many vegan food stocking shops like health food shops in your area, you’re kinda stuck with the supermarkets, and even then they do not stock certain items. I have to go to a chinese food store in leicester in order to get cheap firm tofu. I only get to go a few times a year.

I also found a site where you can buy the new vegan continental sausage range (not sure if they deliver to England, but you can try.

And I’m not commenting here any more, don’t want to become the star of the thread!

Well, Sainsbury’s lied about their cotton bag being ethical since I found out that it’s not organic, fair trade (they are made by lowly paid workers in China).

They also openly support Conservatives who do stuff like cut taxes for the rich, make things harder for the poor, cut youth services, cut public transport etc.
In fact they get big support from the Countryside alliance who want to bring back hunting and promote shooting as well as occasionally supporting factory farming!
(and David Cameron wrote for shooting times)

Tesco, well… there’s the sale of live frogs and turtles for human consumption in some stores:
    http://www.tortoisetrust.org/activities/tesco.html
    And the slave labour:
    http://www.tescopoly.org/

Sainsbury’s is fairly good for meat-free and free-from foods (own brands and Linda McCartney’s) and not so bad in terms of ethics (feel free to enlighten me if I’m wrong!) so I do my main shopping there and just shop around for any other bits e.g. Redwood’s slices in Morrisons, dairy-free cheese in Tesco etc.

    Tesco is better than Morrisons.
Morrisons have cruel slaughterhouses (all are bad anyway) and they test on animals.
Worst thing I’ve seen Tesco do is mislead people about where their pork comes from.

I haven’t seen much outside of tesco really in terms of fake meat and the like. Its the only place I’ve ever seen vegan cheese :( but I like theirs so I don’t mind :P I usually get my food from there and some snacks from Holland and barrett and so on.

Haven’t seen the Tofutti ice cream in ages. Don’t buy the slices any more due to expensiveness. I like the tescos caramel yoghurt things. They’re so nice. Tescos’ seems to be the only one trying to make more available for the vegan market it seems (out of the big supermarkets).

    Hello, another UK vegan here!

Tesco sell quite a lot of good own-brand vegan stuff (cheese, yogurts etc.) although they’re a rubbish company in terms of other ethics :(

Sainsbury’s own brand sausages are vegan and taste just as good as Linda McCartney’s, and they’re cheaper which is always good :) They go well in sausage sandwiches or even on vegan pizza!

    UK vegan here!
    Vegan products overview.
My favourite vegan meat: Redwood, available in health food shops and some Linda McCartney products.
Favourite vegan cheese: Redwood cheezly but Sheese made by Bute Island foods is good as well (you can get a few varieties, mainly cheddar in wholefood shops but if you ever go on holiday to Scotland it’s worth having a look in wholefood shops since they’ll have the full variety), don’t buy Toffuti or however it’s spelt, it’s nasty tasteless stuff and contains palm oil which usually leads to Orangutans being shot.
You probably have already heard of these products but I thought I would share my taste experiences.
PS: You might not have heard that Bute Island Foods have launched a range of vegan continental slicing sausages.
