  • Unilever ruined everything! (St. Ives' Lotion)

So as long as I’ve been apart of the veg*n community I’ve been using St. Ives lotions because they always had 4 bullet points on the back of their lotions(and most of their products) that made me like them. Two of them kept me buying from the company. 1: Not tested on animals and 2: Does not contain animal ingredients. Now with my recent purchase I noticed that one of the points were missing and that Unilever has now taken over the company. The point that was missing was no. 1 Not tested on animals. I’m not sure if they are actually testing on animals or not but I’m going to assume that they are because there would’ve been no other reason to remove that from their products and because I know Unilever tests on animals. I prefer not to risk it. It kind of bums me out that I can’t buy from them anymore because I’ve been using them since 2007. Is there any other drugstore lotion that I can buy?

@MorbidMistress the best vegan lotions that I like are from drugstores are Pacifica, Desert Essence, Alba Botanica, and Kiss My Face. All of them have varying prices points, scents, and can be found at most drugstores! My other favourites can be found online or in their own flagship stores such as LUSH, Arbonne, Bath & Body Works, and The Body Shop.

Kiss my face makes AMAZING lotion. I bought a big bottle of the peach and albeit it was more than I’ve paid for lotion before(11$) I’ve been using it for the last 2 years and still have quite a bit left, and I use A LOT of lotion. I have terrible dry skin in the winter and it works super well. Another brand to check out that I know is sold at Walmart and Target is Alba Botanicals. I have some of their body butter and it got rid of my eczema.
Some other brands that I know are cruelty free but haven’t tried are Jäson and Nature’s Path, those two are also available at Walmart, Target, Price Cutter’s and some health food/all natural stores.

Thank you. I was thinking about buying the Kiss My Face lotion but I’d never had to spend that much on lotion before and I have to use a lot due to dry skin but since you said that you also have that problem and was able to hold on to it for a while, I will totally buy it.

That really sucks. Unilever are such an awful company I wouldn’t want any of my money going to them either :(

I’m in the UK so I can’t really advise on a new brand to buy, but you can check out this list:
