Since I’ve decided to become vegan, I’ve had more trouble getting along with my friends and family. They don’t understand why I’m vegan, so they think I’m just being irrational about caring for the treatment of animals. They won’t listen to my reasons for thinking that eating meat and things like that are wrong, and they get annoyed if I say anything. So I’ve recently been thinking that I should just try to meet other people who care about animals and their own health like I do, instead of trying to explain things to people who won’t listen to me. Anyone who would like to talk please respond to this or add me as a friend! I would especially like to talk to other vegans/vegetarians who live in Maryland or who can relate to my situation.
Finding a strong vegan community is a great part of being a member of the peta2 Street Team! There are just so many people who you can connect with and connect over the same the same issues.
As you make new connections with other vegans, there are still ways to connect with family and friends. Because they care about you, it is likely that as you share with them what makes being vegan so important to you (and as you share tasty vegan food!) the more they begin to, if not support your choice, at least respect it.
@littlelotte yeah, I’ve been thinking about that
I would really like to start a group, but I’m nervous about it because I have pretty bad social anxiety so I feel like I wouldn’t be comfortable doing that unless I started it with someone I already know, and nobody I know would want to.
