Sometimes vegan cheeses use cashews so maybe check out vegan cheese recipes that involve cashews? Also, you could check out a variety of hummus selections (a lot are vegan) and see if you spot something that seems similar. I think your best bet though would be trying to contact the restaurant.

I remember going to a vegan restaurant awhile ago. They served us triangle pita bread slices with this yellow nutty-buttery spread melted onto it..it looked a bit like cheese. Does anyone know what it was called ?
