Just like everyone else; I love pizza. I tried the vegan pizza from Trader Joes today and hated it haha! Anyone have any recommendations? I’ll prolly wind up making my own from scratch, so how about vegan cheese? Anyone know any that melt well?
Daiya pizzas are the best! Making your own sounds really good too, and Daiyda has delicious vegan cheese for it, but if for those lazy days I recommend buying the pre-made Daiya pizzas. I’ve found them at Whole Foods and Nature’s Emporium, I’m sure any other health food store would sell them.
Here is a easy, but delicious, videos with recipes for vegan pizza
making your own is always going to be the way to go. I’ve tried Tofurky’s and it was decent, but not for what I paid for it :/ If you can get a hold of Vegan with a Vengeance, there’s an AMAZING recipe for pizza crust and a tofu ricotta in there. As far as melty cheese goes, Daiya is the best. Be warned though, if there isn’t enough liquid from your other toppings, the Daiya will seize up and not melt. So making a straight cheese pizza that looks and has the mouth feel of real cheese pizza is very hard to do :/
I just made pizza for dinner, using the crust recipe I mentioned(the cookbook says cook at 500 for no specific amount of time, but 425 for 12 minutes makes for a perfect pizza). I layered mine sauce, mozzarella daiya, spinach and baby kale, mushrooms, bell pepper and pineapple. It came out amazing an the cheese melted exactly like dairy cheese. Simply beautiful haha
The most delicious pizza I’ve ever had was with homemade cashew cheese, but usually I just use Follow Your Heart’s mozzarella. A lot of people like Daiya, too, and both melt really well. If you like pizza margherita, I have a pretty yummy recipe
