I just got a blender, I’m a vegetarian but I do want to be vegan, however, I need to learn alot more about health and nutrition. So, I decided to get a blender and make healthy smoothies and shakes and stuff. So if anyone knows any good ones filled with protein, calcium, and all the other nutrients we need :] Let me know. :D

That chai tea one sounds divine!

For great smoothies anytime, prep your fruits into chunks and freeze flat in bags. I second what Heatherbott suggested and add a handful of spinach into your smoothie. I also use rice protein powder for a little extra protein when needed. For liquids, water, fruit juices, or vegan milks are all wonderful.

If like most of us you cannot afford a Vita Mix, I suggest blending your spinach or green of your choice with the liquids before you put the fruits in to give your greens a chance to blend finer. Unless you’re like my boyfriend and would rather leave the blender on high for 5 ear-splitting minutes, that works too.

Frozen fruit makes smoothies so much better. :) I hate finding chunks of ice in my smoothie, but frozen fruit chunks are delicious!

I would recommend using almond or coconut milk and just throw in some frozen fruit and possibly some dessert tofu

Also blending a vegan milk with banana and peanut butter makes a great smoothie

I use Vega, but it can be chalky so I add soy milk to up the protein and make it creamier… also add ice and sometimes peanut butter! Very healthy and yummy treat!!!

    Here’s what I do:

    3/4 cup silken tofu
3/4 cup of your fav non-dairy milk
    approx. 1cup berries
Sweeten with something like agave nectar or I like to use peach nectar

Then you can add what ever else you like. Things like bananas, pomegranate, etc. are really good and you can even add spinach for some more vitamins and I promise you don’t taste it!
