Do they exist? Is it possible to make through eight years of college schooling without dissecting or harming a single animal? It’s what I really want to be, but I don’t want to endorse the affliction of animals because of my career choice… Annie I know you’re on now 😉 Got any hints for me?
It’s great that you care about animals! 🙂 I’m happy to answer your question.
Many vet programs have largely replaced dissection with modern methods such as computer software, models, and plastinated specimens. Also–many vet school anatomy programs only obtain animals who died from natural causes and whose bodies were donated (just like human bodies are) rather than cutting up animals who were purposely killed!
E-mail our college department at [email protected] for a list of vet schools that don’t dissect. 😀

All animal emergencies (injured, stray, neglected, abused, etc) should be reported to our Emergency Response Team, not posted on the Boards.
