Is anyone else a mommy or mommy to be struggling with the decision rather or not to raise your child vegetarian? It’s hard because no one in my family supports my decision to be a vegetarian and I’m afraid they would go behind my back and let my child eat meat.
When I become a mom I am going to raise my children on a vegetarian diet. They do not recommend a vegan diet for children since they need certain vitamins and nutrients growing up. However, make sure you give your child a good amount of protein.
Congrats on being a mummy-to-be!
I would definitely feed any child I had, adopted, fostered or whatever as a veg*n because I’d want the best for them and I believe a veg*n diet is so much better than eating meat!
Explain your views to your family and ask that they respect your decision. Once you show them how much your baby can thrive on a veggie diet they may be able to accept it.
If not, then you can either accept that they might feed your child meat when you’re not around or not give them any opportunities to do this.
I’m not a mommy (yet) but as someone who was raised vegetarian, I did have people in the family try to give me meat, but I was so repulsed by the very idea, that I always refused. But you have to remember, ultimately, if your kid grows up and wants to be a meateater, that is there decision. I wish you the best of luck, with your endeavors.
