• We Can't Hide Behind Words Forever

Words like “pork” instead of pig and “beef” instead of cow play a role in our lives whether we admit it or not. Maybe we think of these words and realize how they impact our choices, maybe we don’t. As a society isn’t it time we stop living our everyday lives living this lie and come clean to ourselves?

Check it out: “Why is it, as a society, we associate different words that mean the same thing, with yet a different attitude? Like the words meat, corpse or body as opposed to what exactly that animal was: a life.

It seems industries have done a fairly good job of creating their own connotations. Though not all people receive the disconnect from these words, words like beef, pork or veal as opposed to pig or cow, seem more commonly used in the food industries. Why is this so?

In the end does it really come down to out of sight, out of mind? Do other versions of these words settle the discomfort or connect we have from them?”

I call cow’s milk “moo juice” so people know when I talk about “milk” I’m referring to my soya or rice milk, not moo juice!

My grandparents used to raise animals to murder.
The other day, my grandma just told me my uncle was going to start “raising beef”
I was like “Uh… how exactly does one raised meat that has already been murdered? I believe what you mean to say is that he will be raising COWS, which he will then have slaughtered to sell as edible meat… … …”
By now, that side of my family just finds with amusing when I “get all vegan on them” as they call it -.- So she was laughing.
Laughed even harder when I told her I would bust them out of their pen.
    I’ll do it too!
