A lot of people tend to assume that vegans are super obsessed with every type of fruit and vegetable out there, that we all love salad, eat basically half a garden everyday, and would choose a carrot over a vegan corndog in a heartbeat (this is thanks to dieters perpetuating the myth that veganism is a diet / done mainly to lose weight!)
Even if we’re the opposite of picky, we’ve all got that one fruit or vegetable that we’ll never be able to stomach, no matter how many ways it is prepared. What’s yours, and why?
I can’t deal with pears, avocados, or brussels sprouts. It’s the mushy texture and bland greenishness that gets to me 😡 I’d probably eat a lot more vegan sushi if most of it didn’t have avocado.
There is a variety of sushi that doesnt contain avocado..!! Dont lose hope!
As for disliking fruits/veg.. I’d have to admit my dislike to most cooked food in general.. I love my foods alive and RAW.. and mostly juiced. And I also have a verrrrry intolerant body to lactose, gluten, starches, and the cooked foods and so on.. but my taste buds dont like them very much either.. so I cant place the blame on intolerance alone! I do have the occasional love for warmth though.. so I am not 100% raw..! (and my easy access to tea and coffee.. sun brewed and all is awesome.. but theres nothing like the annoying whistle of a tea pot.)
I don’t think I have found any fruits of veggies I dislike entirely. Some of them I can only eat if they’re prepared certain ways.
Green peppers I can only eat raw – cooked makes me gag.
Kale I -can’t- eat plain. So far, the only way I like it is juiced haha
Spinach has to be raw, cooked spinach is nasty.
Onions have to be raw too.
I’m not overly fond of celery, but I don’t hate it.
And it’s not so much the flavor I hate, but I can’t eat jalapenos or other spicy peppers. I really just can’t handle spicy foods.
I’ve never tasted a fruit or berry I hate.
I’m really not very picky when it comes to fruits and veggies. Processed foods are where I get really picky.
