Thank you for all the help. I never wish to lie to my niece nor my nephews though my sister does a lot of the time.

Keep telling your niece the truth. If she’s not going to hear it from her mum then she needs to hear it from somewhere. And if your sister doesn’t like it then I guess she’ll stop asking you to baby-sit!

Your sister must not know those are movies made for children,I watched them when I was very young and now my nieces and nephews do as well. I really do not see anything wrong with your niece watching them,if she asks you about why certain things are happening in the movie such as abuse maybe you should explain it to her in a way she would understand. I think its good to educate young children about animal cruelty,just don’t do it harshly in a way that would frighten her. Either way I hope things work out between you and your sister,have a nice day.

It is just so silly to think she was screaming and yelling at me for allowing my niece to watch a kid movie…. I mean out of all the things in the world she yells and screams about this matter.
There is no blood or death in those movies but yet to her it is a crime.

No offense…but, your sister is ridiculous. Those ARE kid’s movies; They’re classics. This is all really up to you though, since I’m sure your sister is going to have a problem with you telling her daughter that there are a lot of evil humans in the world who mistreat and torture animals. However, if it were me, I’d tell her. She’s obviously interested in the subject and like most children would never want to hurt an animal, so fill her in a little. Also, I’m not sure what age group petakids.com is for, but maybe that’d be a good idea as well. Hope I helped and everything goes well. (:

I had picked my niece up from school today and so as any good aunt I helped her with her home work then allowed her to watch some movies through netflix instantly.

Well first she picked ‘The Fox and The Hound’ and so of course she asked me why the was shooting at Todd and why Cheif was training Copper to hunt Todd.
Then she picked ‘Dumbo’ and so of course she saw how the movie was treating animals badly and pointed out in the niece when Mrs. Jumbo is protecting Dumbo from the people that one of the circus hands had a ‘pointed stick’ which then I notice is a ‘Bull Hook’ in a kid movie!
So when I take my little niece home at once my sister begans to yell at me as to why I let her five year old daughter watch such harsh movies that they were not meant to be watched by kids.

So what should I tell my niece?
