All breeders are bad. I hope the puppy that your friend bought gets the care that he/she needs.

Yeah ! I know I think about that all the time. I always wonder why if a guy takes all kittens from someone! That’s why I try to take them in. When I get my own place it will be easier for me ! But yeah I definitely will !

@NicoleLynne ohhh. Ok yeah I would say if you’re able to care for them, take them. But I agree with @Dagmar, you have to be careful not to take in more animals than you can care for.

@NicoleLynne It would be great to take them off people’s hands if you think you can find a home for them. Just a word of caution though that you should not take any more animals than you can handle. Be sure you have time to care for them and have the resources even if it’s just temporary. I’m sure you know that though.

@Styna Oh, but that doesn’t answer my ?, I am talking about in a local trading journal like we have a mountain trading journal and you buy them it’s like a newspaper , you get them at like gas stations and there are ads in there local people just have too many cats and kittens and I know they will either get rid of them or take em to the shelter and I was just wondering if it would be better to just take them off their hands since they would end up dead or in a shelter. Most of the time it’s like free to good home that’s all they say. And it’s usually kittens that one of their cat’s have because they don’t fix them and usually no shots or vaccines they are just free kittens and that happens a lot down here.

@nicolelynne my mom and I have taken in MANY cats, especially ones listed on Craigslist as “free” when someone says if they don’t find a home soon, they will get rid of them. Around here, “get rid of them” means either put them outside, or kill them – simply because if someone wants to take a cat to the shelter, they have to pay the shelter $35 and many people just aren’t willing to do that.
So we often take in these cats and spend more time finding them proper homes.

I found my boyfriends puppy on Craigslist – there was a $50 fee to cover her “care costs” which were supposed to be shots and deworming. Well. They never gave her shots, and they actually overdosed her with deworming medication when we went to pick her up. She became very ill from it, and we honestly werent sure if she would make it.
They also turned out to be a full fledged puppy mill. They had a large pen outside in the cold filled with puppies of all different breeds – very young puppies, with no mother dogs to be found. I called their local human society after taking the puppy, and they have since been shut down. While they did get my $50, I feel like we still won for those puppies in the long run.

I have a question .. what about if someone is trying to get rid of their cats and if no one takes them they will be put in the shelter.. it would be okay to take kittens or puppies that people just want to get rid of ?

@SkitzoBunneh I would organize a protest and try to inform other people not to buy pets from such an unprofessional and cruel breeder. One must always deworm their cats and dogs because worms can spread so easily and cause so many problems for the animals.

my friend bought a puppy from a lady who failed to tell them of any illnesses. She said she gave all the puppies their shots (herself) and decided that she had no need to de worm them after that. So last night the puppy my friend bought got really sick and she did not know why. So the next day when they went to the vet they found out the puppy has worms, they called the breeder and she said that all the puppies have worms and that the puppies had worms two weeks before my friend bought the puppy. Now the lady is saying that it is not her fault(even though she knew about the worms) and that she will not help pay for the treatments. My friend and I are wondering what we can do about this and if there is someone we can call about her selling sick puppies that she refuses to treat. It is pure animal abuse and it makes me sick.
