Hi! I’m new 😀 I was wondering where the best place to buy animals would be? I know there’s a lot of talk about not buying them from pet stores, but why is that? And what about breeders? Are animal shelters the best bet?

Bad advice do not buy animals from pet stores or breeders just because you feel bad for them. They will only be replaced with another mistreated animal.

Animal shelters use the money thou spend on adopting an animal, on other animals there.
But its sad, because pet stores don’t treat their animals right. and breeders usually send the ones they can’t sell to animal shelters.
So maybe buy from a pet store, or a breeder, but always donate to the shelters ?
    (:

Both my cats come from the shelter.

Yes animal shelters are the best bet even for any odd sorts of companion animal like pigs, bunnies, rats, etc. You can always look online like petfinder.com to see most of the available animals in local shelters and rescues.

Any form of breeding animals is bad. Even “responsible” small scale breeders mean that shelter animals have to die. Pet stores are bad because animals come from puppy mills and other nasty animal suppliers.

Here is a video and some information on a PETCO and PetSmart supplier
