So ever since I started standing up for animals my friends keep posting and tagging me on things like “vegetarians kill innocent fruits” or whatever. It’s so immature but when I try to explain to them that their arguments don’t have a rational point they say that I can’t take a joke but I don’t find thousands of animals suffering funny. I don’t know how to get it through their heads that I’m tired of seeing their comments. What should I do?
I agree that if they really are your friends they’ll come around and you should try to ignore what you can but obviously you can’t just sit there and accept something that’s upsetting you; at the same time you can turn this back around by saying “at least I’m killing less than you!” (just thinking of the example you gave) so that it sounds like you’re joking along with them but also giving facts at the same time.
It’s up to you how you deal with it but I hope it all works out for you! ^^
Ignore their comments, they’re not as mature as you are about this topic. They’re unfamiliar with it and so they try to turn to humor to make it okay. Don’t just cut them out of your life, if they were really your friends before you were standing up for what you believe in, they’ll come around and respect you for standing your ground. If you introduce the possibility that their abuse to your opinions is going to make them lose you as a friend then maybe they’ll grow up a bit and realize that it isn’t a joke.
