Whales are majestic and intelligent creatures, facing many human-induced challenges such as entanglement in fishing gear, pollution and climate change. On top of these threats, a few countries kill thousands of whales each year. And now a new report shows hundreds of whale products for sale on the Japanese affiliate website of Internet giant Yahoo!.
HSI is urging Yahoo! to use its influence on Yahoo! Japan and end the sale of whale meat. It’s shameful that Yahoo! profits from the slaughter of endangered and protected species — and that it allows the sale of contaminated food products.
