‘Friday Night Lights’ Aimee Teegarden

Aimee's adMeet our newest friend: anti-fur crusader Aimee Teegarden. The vivacious teen is one of the stars of the NBC hit drama Friday Night Lights. She and the love of her life, her adorable canine companion Gizmo, appear in peta2’s latest anti-fur PSA alongside the tagline “If you wouldn’t wear your dog, please don’t wear fur or fur trim.”

On the show, Aimee plays Julie Taylor, the daughter of high school football coach Eric Taylor. Julie tries to distance herself from the role of “coach’s little girl”—of course, that’s kind of hard to do once you start dating the star quarterback, as Julie learns. In real life, one thing that Aimee doesn’t have a problem distancing herself from is fur. A lifelong fur foe and vegetarian, Aimee realizes there’s nothing cool or trendy about killing animals for clothing. “Fur is just not the way to go. It’s not a cool thing, you know? You can’t go around killing something just ’cause it’s smaller than you are. And it’s definitely not a fashion statement.” Check out what else Aimee told us when she and Gizmo spent the day posing for their new PSA.

Now that you’ve heard what Aimee has to say about helping animals, we’re sure you feel inspired to get in on the act too. One easy way to get started is simply not to wear fur. There’s no reason any animal should ever be forced to suffer, especially not for fashion. So take the fur-free pledge today!

Get even more active for animals by joining the peta2 Street Team. You’ll be helping animals and earning free stuff at the same time. It’s a win-win situation. Oh, and Aimee and Gizmo say “Thank you!” for everything you do to help animals.
