Strong and silent. Two ace adjectives to describe noted indie producer, multitalented Death Cab for Cutie guitarist, and longtime vegetarian Chris Walla and a public service announcement (PSA) that he teamed up with peta2 to create.
The PSA, which Chris designed himself, shows him standing behind a heaping plate of colorful vegetables next to the tagline “Add Some Color to Your Life—Try Vegetarianism!” Chris chose the theme for the ad-inspired by the strong, silent classic 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey (known more for its spectacular imagery than its dialogue)—in which he’s dressed in a white shirt and white tie against a stark white background.
Chris also sat down to chat about why he went veg at 13 during the PSA photo shoot. Find out what made him remark, “I feel like such a mother,” by watching the video below.
Now it is time to add a little more color to your own life. Click on the button below and start by taking the Pledge to Be Veg!
