Geezer Butler’s Vegetarian Testimonial

As the legendary founding bassist for one of the loudest and heaviest rock bands in the world, Black Sabbath, Geezer Butler is a well respected member of the metal community. Geezer is never one to turn down his amp, and now he and a legendary metal lineup consisting of Dio’s Ronnie James Dio and Vinny Appice as well as Black Sabbath’s guitarist Tony Iommi—or Heaven and Hell to their die-hard fans—are back with a new project that’s guaranteed to wake your neighbors.

You may be familiar with Geezer for his unique bass lines in Black Sabbath classics like “Paranoid” and “N.I.B.,” but what you might not know about Geezer is that he has been meat-free since he was 8 years old and now follows a healthy vegan diet. Between being a rock legend and a compassionate human being, it seemed fitting to ask Geezer to be the next celebrity to star in our vegetarian testimonial campaign. In Geezer’s own words: “I went vegetarian when I was about … I think I was about 8 years old. One day, I cut this piece of meat open, and blood came out of it, and I realized … I asked me mother, ‘Where did this come from?’ She said, ‘From animals,’ and that was it.” Check out his print vegetarian testimonial below!

After talking with Geezer, we learned that in addition to being a strict vegan, he and his wife are also strongly against puppy mills, and they have protested outside local pet stores in their area! According to Geezer, “There’s no reason to go out and buy them [animals] from a pet shop—you can just get them from your local shelter. Hopefully one day we’ll see the end of puppy mills.” I couldn’t have said it any better.
