'Secret Life' Star Megan Park's Anti-Fur Ad
Megan Park has a secret to share: She’ll never wear fur. On the hit TV show The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Megan plays Grace Bowman, a cheerleader who stands by her morals. Offscreen, Megan is just as committed to her beliefs when it comes to fur. In PETA’s latest public service announcement (PSA), she is a cheerleader for animals when she tells fans, “If you wouldn’t wear your dog, please don’t wear any fur or fur trim.”
Wearing dog fur is an everyday reality, as both cat and dog fur is often deliberately mislabeled as fur from other species to trick customers. There are no penalties for abusing any type of animal—including cats and dogs—on Chinese fur farms. Animals on fur farms are confined to wire cages, often bludgeoned until presumed dead, and then skinned, sometimes while they’re still alive. Because more than half the fur in the U.S. comes from China, the odds of purchasing dog fur is far too high. Remind family and friends that buying even the tiniest amount of fur trim funds horrific abuse to animals, including dogs like Tyson.
