Sum 41 Knows That Elephants Never Forget

Sum 41 hit the airwaves almost a decade ago and quickly became the new poster boys of punk rock. Following the path set by fellow pop-punkers Blink 182 and Good Charlotte, the Canadian foursome’s debut album, All Killer No Filler, went platinum, and the infamous summer party anthem, “Fat Lip,” helped to propel the band into the world of sold-out shows and celebrity status. After a few years off the radar, Sum 41 is back in action, and back to kicking ass for animals!

When Sum 41 found out that peta2 would be hitting Vans Warped Tour with our “Elephants Never Forget” campaign this summer, they were all too ready to lend their voices to the cause! Many people aren’t aware of the abuses that elephants and other wild animals face behind the scenes of the circus. Being transported from show to show in hot, cramped cages; being hit and beaten with sharp metal bullhooks; being tied down, chained up, and denied everything natural and comforting to them, in order to force them to perform confusing and often painful tricks. The thought alone is enough to make anyone’s stomach turn, let alone the pictures. So of course Sum 41 did what any good punk rock band would do—they took action to be a voice for those who can’t speak for themselves.
