Helping Animals: There’s an App for That

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino might seem like he doesn’t have a care in the world on MTV’s Jersey Shore, but there is one cause close to his fist-pumping heart, and that is helping to end animal homelessness. Mike knows that the only way to end the animal overpopulation crisis is to practice your ABCs: animal birth control. It takes more than a few compassionate people to change the lives of millions of animals living in shelters, hoping for a new home. Using his notoriety for good, Mike teamed up with peta2 to help raise awareness about animal homelessness.
Here’s the situation: 3 to 4 million cats and dogs are euthanized every single year in the United States because of severely crowded shelters and a lack of good homes. Adopting an animal means saving the life of a companion animal otherwise left for dead. That’s only half the battle, though! Once you’ve rescued a cuddly best friend, remember always to have your animals spayed or neutered to avoid bringing more animals into an already overpopulated world.
Watch The Situation’s exclusive interview with peta2!
If you’re ready to tackle the animal overpopulation situation, remember always to spay and neuter your cats and dogs, and take this pledge to commit to ending animal homelessness and giving every animal a chance at a happy, healthy life.
