URGENT: Ask Spain to Stop Bullfighting
Ask Spanish authorities to ban this cruel and senseless event!
It’s hard to believe that something called “donkey basketball” still exists in this day and age, but sadly, it’s true. During these cruel “games”—which are held by some schools as fundraisers—donkeys are dragged, kicked, and punched by participants who have no experience with handling animals. As if abusing animals and forcing them to participate in these games weren’t bad enough, there’s more: In order to keep them from having “accidents” on the court, donkeys are deprived of food and water for hours before the game. How ridiculous is that?
It’s up to you to stop this cruel “sport.” If your school or a school in your area is planning to hold a donkey basketball game, there are a number of steps you can take to get the game cancelled and make people aware of what the donkeys go through. We’ll give you lots of Street Team points for doing your part—just be sure to e-mail StreetTeam@peta2.com to let us know what you’ve done.

| Ask school administrators to ban donkey basketball. Set up a meeting with the principal to explain what’s wrong with donkey basketball and why it should be banned from school. If that sounds like too much work, just write a letter asking the principal to set a policy against donkey basketball, and drop it in his or her mailbox. E-mail StreetTeam@peta2.com with the subject “Donkey Basketball” if you need some backup. |

| Give out leaflets around campus. Print out some leaflets here and hand them out before or after school in a spot where lots of students gather, like the spot where buses load and unload. If you don’t have a printer, use the one in the library or ask a teacher if you can use theirs. |
