Warning: The video contains graphic and potentially disturbing images.
Some of the worst things that happen to animals in factory farms are impossible to show on video: The fear and psychological torment. The unbearable stench of ammonia from accumulated waste. The terrifying claustrophobia of intensive confinement. And worst of all, the horrible knowledge that another gruesome procedure or another agonizing mutilation could be just around the corner. But what we can show on video is the stark reality of the procedures themselves: Limbs and guts removed from pigs’ writhing bodies, cows struggling to stand up in pools of their own blood, fish cut up and dismembered while they’re still alive, heads ripped off frantic, helpless chickens … in short, the unrelenting, merciless cruelty that is inflicted on billions of animals—who are just as capable of fear and suffering as any cat or dog—before they end up on someone’s dinner plate.
PETA’s Goriest Video is a document of just that. It’s set to the music of one of the greatest animal rights songs ever written, “Nailing Descartes to the Wall/(Liquid) Meat Is Still Murder,” which our good friends Propagandhi donated to us to use for this video, and even if you have a strong stomach, it’s a little tough to watch.
