On Our Radar

Hollywood has gone to the dogs—literally. Everywhere you look, more celebs are popping up with their pampered pooches.
Courtney Cox ArquetteIt’s a wrap for Friends, but don’t worry—Courtney Cox Arquette has plenty to keep her busy. She and husband David Arquette are working on their “home fixer-upper show” Mix It Up and are getting ready to welcome their first baby, but they always make time for a game of catch or a romp on the beach with their Hollywood dogs.
Elijah Wood Lord of the Rings castmates Liv Tyler and Elijah Wood are crazy for canines, too. Elijah shares his life with pups Rascal and Levonne, and Liv recently told Seventeen magazine that when she walks her dog, Neal, through her neighborhood, no one even knows her name, but everyone stops to say “Hi” to him. “It’s great. I’m totally anonymous. It’s all about Neal.”

Debra MessingAnd it seems like every gossip mag you pick up these days has a pic or two of Debra Messing and her adorable dog, Laila.
Ethan Hawke Ethan Hawk and Calista Flockhart have recently been seen with their celebrity dogs in tow, too.
Kelly Rowland Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland had a hit professing her love to Nelly, but she’s quick to admit that her dog, Mocha, is the “true love of her life.” And Beyoncé’s got nuthin’ on little sister Solange—this up-and-coming diva, who’s often seen in the company of her prized pup, Shuggie, wrote and coproduced several songs on her first album.

Justin BerfieldAnd speaking of divas, Malcolm in the Middle’s Justin Berfield says that his pooch, Diva, is “the love of his life.” Justin’s just moved out from under his ’rents’ roof and says he’s grateful to have Diva to come home to because she always greets him at the door—who wouldn’t love that?!
Trista and RyanReality TV stars Trista and Ryan’s 15 minutes aren’t up yet, but that’s OK with us because they’re using their fame to help draw attention to the plight of the dogs and cats who are tortured and killed in Iams’ cruel animal tests. They’ve joined PETA’s boycott and even donated an exclusive pic of their very pampered pooch, Natasha.
Selma BlairWhen Selma Blair, a.k.a. the new Mrs. Ahmet Zappa, isn’t smothering her one-eyed, rescued dog, Wink, with all her affection, she can be found volunteering at her local animal shelter, where she helps by walking and playing with the dogs who are waiting to be adopted.
Julia RobertsMona Lisa Smile star Julia Roberts recently lent her help to a New Mexico animal group by posing for their calendar, along with a few fellow New Mexico residents. Each calendar costs $10 and all proceeds benefit the group’s spaying and neutering program and its efforts to end cruelty to animals. Roberts, or “Miss October 2004,” currently shares her life with nine dogs, all of whom she adopted from shelters.
Justin TherouxJustin Theroux sure knows how to treat a girl right—just ask his beautiful pal, Pooma. When Justin rescued her, Pooma was roaming the mean streets of NYC wearing a heavy chain around her neck. Now this former chained dog lives the life of luxury along with her canine cohort, Lou Lou, in Justin’s NYC pad. When we heard Pooma’s story, we asked Justin and Pooma to help us kick off “Unchain a Dog” Month this year by starring in PETA’s brand-new PSA.
