Adam from Hopesfall
loves vegetarian food. Absolutely adores it, in fact. And
with all the delicious and easy options that exist, who can blame
him?
When we sat down to chat with him and asked for some veggie recommendations
for his fans, he had tons of great ideas. But just in case those
aren’t enough, PETA2 has plenty more recipes
to help you satisfy your hunger. Just don’t forget to pull
yourself away from the table long enough to go check out Hopesfall
on the Take
Action Tour with fellow PETA2 lovers Hawthorne
Heights, Sugarcult
and Anberlin!
You travel a lot, and lots of fast food places have veggie
burgers. Could you recommend the best place to get veggie burgers
on the road?
Oh, yeah! Denny’s does a really good one, and Chili’s
does a black bean substitution with any of their burgers, and that’s
cross-country. That’s really good! Up north, McDonald’s
actually has one. Burger King has an OK one. But I’d recommend
the Denny’s or the Chili’s.
What are some of your favorite vegetarian foods?
I love vegetarian sushi. The sweet potato tempura rolls are amazing,
that’s my favorite thing in this world! Falafel. Tofu, in
any form, really ... preferably in an Asian dish of some sort. Maybe
a Thai dish. God, pad Thai with tofu. Oh God!
I used to make these veggie burgers out of chickpeas and all these
different vegetables that were really, really good. Those are great.
I can’t make those on the road. That requires utensils and
such, and I have no utensils and such.
Those are definitely my favorite foods!
Did you ever go to protests?
Yeah, yeah.
What kind of protests did you go to?
Belk, McDonald’s. I was surrounded pretty much by the animal
rights culture at one point and just really delved into it pretty
deeply, and it was great. I love the idea of doing something for
a cause that’s definitely one of the most noble.
How would people react to you when you were at a protest
or when you were out leafleting?
A couple of times, people would stop, and they would just run up
and join us, and that was great!
How do you think activism and music are related?
They’re both definitely a passion. You know you’re doing
something that you love, and you’re doing something that,
at the end of the day, you look back and say, “I’ve
done something good today. I’m a decent person.” And
with both, you get the sense of gratification, which isn’t
a selfish thing at all. It’s really good.
