With crushing breakdowns, a rumbling rhythm section, heavy drums, and deeply personal lyrics, California metalcore outfit A Static Lullaby (ASL) is back with their fourth studio release, Rattlesnake! Anyone who claims to be a fan of ASL can vouch for the fact that frontman Joe Brown is not one to censor his emotions. With Rattlesnake!, Joe gets more personal than ever with lyrics that channel frustration and emotion and touch upon the darker side of life.
Between Joe's brutal honesty and the fact that the band has toured with the likes of other peta2 friends such as AFI, The Used, and My Chemical Romance—it only makes sense that we'd finally ask him for a sit-down heart-to-heart about animals.
Not only did Joe gush about his number one love—his irresistibly cute pug named Lola—he was also quick to respond to any topic we threw at him, be it factory farming, adopting from animal shelters, or the cruel fur industry. While Joe is still very new to a lot of the topics we spoke about, his answers prove that under the tough lyrics and heavy music, there's a soft spot reserved for animals!

Like what you've heard so far? A Static Lullaby's live shows shouldn't be missed, so be sure to keep your eye on their MySpace page for local tour dates. If they come through your town, ask them to play their recent cover of Britney Spears' "Toxic"! (Yes, I'm serious!)
One more thing before you send that friend request—have you ever thought about giving vegetarianism a try? If you're not veg yet, try being open to the idea. Buy some of the yummy alternative foods that Joe talks about in the video, and take our "Pledge to Be Veg"!
