When I was a senior in high school, I was mainly concerned with what shows were coming through Atlanta that week, and I had a vague idea of what I might want to do with my life someday in the distant future. When members of The Maine were seniors in high school, they were being scouted by record labels and preparing to head out on tour. Only two years later, the band has headlined sold-out shows, graced the covers of magazines, and survived a summer on Warped Tour, and now they're starring in their very own peta2 PSA! Everyone knows that peta2 is sweating it out on Warped Tour every summer, spreading the message about the important ways to help stop cruelty to animals. This year, we kicked the summer off with a bang! We met up with John O'Callaghan and crew on day one of Warped '09 to shoot the band's (adorable!) "Animal Testing Breaks Hearts" PSA. With their infectiously catchy, perfect for summer, sing-along-in-your-car-with-the-windows-down music, you would think these boys would be too busy taking the music scene by storm to stand up for animals—not so! When they found out that millions of animals, including mice and rabbits, are blinded, tortured, and killed in product tests every year, they wanted to help stop this! Drummer Pat Kirch and guitarist Jared Monaco sat down with peta2 to talk about the importance of buying cruelty-free products and the easy ways that you can help animals!

Product testing on animals is cruel, outdated, and completely unnecessary.
