The Road Warriors of peta2 will be out there as well, educating everyone about why "meat's not green"! If you're concerned about the environment—and meat production is the number one cause of climate change—why not go vegetarian? Do it for the planet and for animals!
Still not convinced to check out TOC? Here's a short interview with my friend and peta2 Road Warrior Cody (he's featured in a ton of the pictures on this page), who is no stranger to Taste of Chaos. Check it out:
When did you table for peta2 at TOC?
I was on the tour in 2007 and 2008 tabling for peta2 and was a Street Teamer at the Phoenix, Arizona, date in 2006. I also attended the very first one in 2005, but I wasn't tabling.
What was it like?
Both years were incredible! TOC in 2007 was my first tour and it was a great experience. I met some amazing people and got loads of people to sign a petition against KFC (because searing the beaks off baby birds isn't cool and neither is cutting the throats of live birds—and that happens to roughly 1 billion chickens a year). I rode in a van with an intern who had awful gas, got wedgies in Canada for wearing sweatpants in public, and had the chance to be with some of my best friends every night. 2008 was pretty much the same, minus the wedgies and the awful gas. That was the tour that brought (vegan) ice-cream Mondays to life, and we talked to people about the horrors of the fur industry. Setting up a table with a video that showed an animal being skinned alive was never easy …
Do you have a favorite memory?
I have three favorite memories:
1. Jared Leto cut in front of me and Buddy (of Senses Fail) at dinner in 2007 … I'm still bitter.
2. My friend Dylan ate a jar of Vegenaise for less than $10.
3. Some dude from a biker gang came to a date on TOC 2008 wearing a leather jacket and started crying during the fur investigation video. As he wiped the tears off his cheeks, he asked for stickers for his kids and a button for his jacket. Leather is just as awful, but I like to think that he's donated his jacket and gotten a nice faux-leather jacket by now.
What would you tell kids who are considering going to TOC?
