Compassion is the fashion this season, and Agent M, the hot lead singer for the Petaluma punk four-piece,
Tsunami Bomb, is one stylish rocker. Because she loves animals, M makes sure she’s voting with her dollars by spending her cash on cruelty-free products and fur-free fashions.
Can you tell me about some of the highlights of your career as the lead singer for Tsunami Bomb?
I think going to Japan was one of my favorite things we’ve done―it was amazing to go to a country so different from our own yet so similar. Also playing Warped Tour and touring with the Bouncing Souls.
If you have a choice between buying products that are not tested on animals and products that are, which do you choose and why?
Of course, I would choose the product not tested on animals! It makes me sad to think of animals who are completely helpless being tortured with chemicals.
Are there any beauty products that you like to use that aren’t tested on animals? Where do you buy them?
Yes, I use a few Tom’s of Maine products and a number of Trader Joe’s brand products. You can get all that stuff at Trader Joe’s―shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, soap, etc. There’s a ton of great stuff there!
How do you feel about people who wear fur?
I think it’s so stupid that people think that’s fashionable!! I can’t believe that anyone today would actually buy fur―I wonder if any of them feel any remorse or guilt for doing that.
Would you ever buy a fur coat or fur trim?
I could never, ever buy a fur coat or trim! Sure, it may feel super soft and nice, but it belongs to the animal, not some fashion consumer. Even though it does feel soft, it makes me feel really gross touching it and knowing that an animal died for that coat.

Can you share your favorite story about your dog with us?
My favorite story about Ernie is more like a description of his personality. He’s a very small little dog, about a foot long or so. All his life, he has had some very cat-like tendencies ... the main one being that when he goes to the bathroom, he kicks a little dirt over it like a cat. Also, he barks at cats from inside, but as soon as you let him out to chase them, he’s wishing he was still inside. They scare him!
PETA gets dozens of complaints a week regarding people who chain their dogs in the backyard with no shelter or loving attention. What would you want to say to someone who treats animals so poorly?
Why in the world do you even have a pet if you’re going to treat them like that? And what entitles you to do so?
What’s your favorite song on the new album? What is the band’s songwriting process like?
If I had to pick one, I think it would be “Jigsaw.” When we write songs, we start with the music. One person brings in a bit that they’ve written, and we all build from there. After all of the parts of the song are done, I write the melody and lyrics over the top. Then we work on the final arrangement, and it’s done!
What’s up next for the band?
We’re doing a headlining tour of the whole U.S. to support our new album, The Definitive Act.
Tsunami Bomb’s out to rock you like a hurricane. Be sure to check out The Definitive Act, and be on the lookout for upcoming tour dates so you can run―not walk―to see Agent M and the gang in action.
