Hometown: New Orleans area, Louisiana
Favorite Artists: Margot and the Nuclear So and So's, Brand New, and Silversun Pickups, just to name a few. I also like songs about liberation—and '80s music.
About me: I love writing poetry and songs. I love to laugh, and I'm pretty funny myself (when the listener has the same lame humor as I do). I love to sing. I am pretty quiet, but I love getting to know people, and I eventually open up. I like to draw every now and then. I am obsessed with reading amazing novels, like Ishmael and 1984. I will debate you for hours and love every minute of it. The best talks are the ones that leave you with new information and keep you up way too late. I am anti-apathy, and I'll love you for your self-expression. I embarrass myself constantly, and I'm OK with that.
I like: Small shows at intimate venues, Arrested Development, feminism, politics, '80s nights (of all shapes, sizes, and colors), liberation, wine, any food with soy cheese, sweets, people who fight oppression, laughing until I pee a little, my amazing parents and sisters, my friends, making new friends, dyeing my hair until it's the consistency of hay, and, of course, working for animal rights.
I hate: APATHY
Why you went vegan: I'd been a vegetarian for a very long time, and then my sister Robyn (whom you might have seen on the road with peta2) simply asked me one day why we hadn't gone vegan yet. Consequently, I watched PETA's Iams Cruelty video. Tears and hysteria ensued, and the rest is history.
Is it true that by some strange force of nature, "Sleepy California" by Her Space Holiday reduces you to tears every time you hear it? Yes.
Do you have any companion animals? Yes, a cat named Prissy. She is a big blob of pure joy and love.
What is your most memorable experience with PETA so far?
As Chris P. Carrot, I married Penelo Pea Pod (from VivaVegie Society). I'm still waiting for the honeymoon.
