Meet the peta2 Staff: Jackie

Hometown: Mad City, Wisconsin! Go Packers! Go Badgers! Go Brewers! Prince Fielder is veg and totally rocks!  

Favorite bands: Cake, Sneaker Pimps, Lucero, Garbage, Dope, Drain STH, Hatebreed, Hole, Nirvana, Ani DiFranco, Smashing Pumpkins, Cranberries, Linkin Park, Jewel, Evanescence, Green Day, RATM, SOAD, 311 … oh, I could go on forever!

About me: I'm a little shy until I get to know you. Then the weirdness begins. You'll know that I feel comfortable around you when I randomly start singing or making weird noises, oftentimes followed by a slightly embarrassed, "Oh, was that out loud?" I don't mind doing favors for people and don't expect anything in return. I think the greatest thing ever is seeing people laugh so hard that they can't stop. I think that dancing in the rain is underrated and that chocolate is slightly overrated.

I like: Social justice, playing guitar, singing, skydiving, playing piano, adrenaline rushes, roller coasters, painting, creative writing, music, reading, learning totally random things, fits of laughter, tattoos, dry humor, thunderstorms, and vegan cooking.

I hate: Bystanders, factory farming, slacktivists, capers, people who jump to conclusions before hearing all the facts, and people who break their promises.

Why you went veg: A few years ago I watched Meat Your Meat. I was horrified and started researching factory farming. When I saw how animals are treated, I finally made the connection—I knew that if I couldn't beat or abuse an animal myself, why would I pay someone else to do it? And I love being vegan! It's the best decision I've ever made!

Favorite foods to cook: Seitan fajitas, vegan supreme pizza, vegan quesadillas, sammiches, and pumpkin stuffing.

Any companion animals? My kitty, Boo Boo. His previous family thought he was an inconvenience; I thought he deserved a second chance. He is THE loudest cat ever. We've been through a lot together—and survived a lot together. He's my partner in crime.
