Bring Me the Horizon frontman Oli Sykes has always had a heart for animals, which he showed when he designed an anti-KFC poster for peta2. But this time, he went a step further to help his furry and feathered friends by designing—and modeling!—a “Meat Sucks” T-shirt. All proceeds from the shirt were donated to peta2 to support our efforts to help animals who are slaughtered in factory farms, exploited in the entertainment and experimentation industries, and callously killed for their skins. Oli’s clothing label, Dropdead, is a hit with the likes of Gallows and Lost Prophets.
Oli knows that millions of animals are killed every year for their skins in order to make clothes, shoes, and belts and that they suffer excruciating deaths at slaughterhouses. Many animals even end up being skinned alive. Oli has been a vegetarian ever since seeing a peta2 video a few years ago. “For some reason, I got on [the] peta2 Web site, and the first video I saw, I just went, ‘I’m going vegetarian,’” says Oli. He added, “Vegetarians are hotter than meat-eaters”—too true!
