Business is booming for our good friend Heidi Minx, the founder, president, and muse of Franky & Minx designs. The company has been steadily gaining momentum the past few years by creating killer products with street cred—and without compromising the ethics of Heidi and her crew—so needless to say, we're pretty darn stoked for her.
Franky & Minx was born in 2001 when Heidi spotted a pair of jeans decorated with tattoo art at a trade show. When she asked about the artist and was told that they didn't know who it was and that one of their designers had "ripped it off the Internet," that was all it took.
She decided that if the fashion industry is interested in alt-culture, it should have to work with people who are a part of that scene. So Heidi created a company built on respect, which she believed would earn the company respect in return. And it has. Franky & Minx designs can be spotted on everyone from Mateo Carmargo from Madina Lake and Bif Naked to H2O's Toby Morse and Pete Koller from Sick of It All.
"Built on respect" is actually Heidi's mantra, by the way, which might explain why she insists on working with companies that treat their workers fairly, why Heidi doesn't eat animals, and why the company created this rad tattoo-inspired "Veggie Friendly" design just for peta2. It probably also explains why you won't find fur in Franky & Minx fashions.
